This past April, I approached several local New Jersey wedding vendors that I thought had similar visions and taste at me and we all collaborated on a wedding styled shoot. We decided to pursue all 4 ideas that I was conceiving so this blogpost will actually be the first of a series of 4 showcasing our joint vision and work. I really only gave some minimal direction and everyone brought their own aesthetic to the table. I am incredibly happy with the outcome and so impressed with the team that I was able to work with on this project. Below the images are the credits, a description of the contributions from each vendor, so if there is something that you like and would like more information about having at your own wedding, please feel free to reach out to us, we don’t bite. 🙂
This first concept drew my attention because dreamcatchers and jewel tones were becoming emmencely popular elements for this years wedding season all over Pinterest. The bride featured below wore a blue and pink high/low ombre dress that I found on ebay. The flowers were styled by an amazing floral designer friend of mine, Alyson. I built the feather backdrop used in some of the images from a tutorial that I found online and many of the little details were purchased at my local HomeGoods store. The invitation suite was custom designed by an amazing local designer, Kelli. The final images listed below are of a mock sweetheart table at The Mill in Spring Lake Heights, NJ. The Mill is one of my favorite local venues to photograph weddings. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the grounds are stunning. All of our concepts were photographed here so you can see that your vision can completely change the look of the venue if you have the right details.
I personally love boho styling and an not normally drawn to such bright jewel tone colors but I think that the colors in this designed concept were gorgeous and worked very well together. Purple is a favorite color of mine so I have to be open to other colors that mix so well with it. Even though I am not naturally drawn to those colors, I actually used them for my own wedding 2 years ago. I had my heart set on a dark purple bridesmaid dress and the florist made amazing suggestions and I ended up with brighter colors in the bridesmaids bouquets and slightly more muted tones in my bridal bouquet. This looked great in the pictures because the bridesmaids bouquets really popped with the contrast of the dark purple dress and I didn’t need that against my white dress. I highly suggest stepping outside of your comfort zone when planning your wedding because I did in many ways (I thought I wanted one thing and ended up with something completely different) and I could not have been happier with how my wedding day vision turned out. A perfect example was the type or style of dress that I thought I wanted. I tried on dress after dress and months later, about 6 before my wedding, eek…I found THE ONE and it was because I tried something that I didn’t think I would like.
