Last week I had the opportunity to photograph Amy & Mike’s downtown Bordentown & Bordentown Marina engagement session.

Amy and Mike met while they both attended Rutgers University and they have been inseparable ever since. They have been living together for quite a while but purchased their first home together about a year ago. Their engagement session kicked off at their beautiful home, where they wanted to take some pictures of themselves with their dog, Hubble, named after the Hubble Space Telescope, before we continued on to the next location of their session.

I love that Amy & Mike bought a bow tie for Hubble to wear in a few of their family pictures. I am pretty amazed that we were able to get Hubble to sit still and look at the camera for a few pictures because he was such a ball of energy and was constantly on the go but with the help of my assistant and Amy’s mother, I was able to capture a few fabulous images of their family for them.

After I took their family pictures at home with Hubble, we drove a few minutes down the road to downtown Bordetown, which is a very historic area near their home. We took a stroll down Farnsworth Ave, stopping and taking pictures at various locations along the strip of little vintage shops and restaurants.

Our last stop on our quest for stunning local backdrops for their engagement pictures was the Bordentown Marina. It was the perfect way to end the session, with a few sunset pictures along the water’s edge.

Lastly, I saw this patch of greenery next to the waterfront and just had to take a few pictures there as well for a completely different look.

Amy & Mike’s engagement session really represents them as a couple because it was so personable: they utilized their home, showcased their family, their local neighborhood and it is completely unique to them and their love story.

I truly look forward to their wedding ceremony which will take place at Rutgers Gardens this fall!
