Modern Book Themed Engagement in Asbury Park | Rustic NJ Wedding Photographer

Megan and Michael met me for dinner on the boardwalk in Asbury Park before their engagement session was to begin. They live in Boston so we had a lot of catching up to do since they had hired me several months ago. We had such a great dinner covering over their wedding plans, we almost forgot that we were meeting for a portrait session and the daylight was disappearing.

The theme of their engagement session was books because Megan loves to read novels and Mike loves to collect comics. Mike brought a really cool and rare cominc book with him so I took some fun pictures of it with Megan’s ring and it was also used in several other images. We walked from one end of the boardwalk to the other, starting with the sun setting over the lake at the southern end of the boardwalk as we walked northbound towards The Berkley Hotel. Once we walked past all of the shops stopping for portraits along the waterfront and in front of Convention Hall, we ended our session in The Berkley Hotel where we took some great portraits on the stairs in their lobby.

The pictures that I took on the boardwalk are more casual and relaxed while the images that I took inside of the hotel are more formal and elegant. I did this because it portrays both of their personalities and also brings out their uniqueness as individuals in a relationship.
